New Guests and First Fish
Uma and Umpop joined the boat February 27th after a long debaucle at the airport as the airline had lost Chip’s fishing rod. We were hopeful it would be delivered before we left the marina the next morning. Unfortunately the rod was not returned while on this trip. We went out to a lovely dinner and hid the hay for our long sail the next day.
February 28th was a big day on No Worries. We caught our first fish of the trip. Crazy that it took us over 4 months to catch a fish. We had been trying, not daily and we didn’t know alot about our lures, but we did try on a regular basis.
The sail was beautiful and we reached the tip of the key, Dry Tortugas. Fort Jefferson came into view and we set anchor in time for the sunset.
First we gave Queso a long walk on the beach. The skies were FULL of Sooty Terns. They were very loud and known to nest here from January to June.
Meanwhile back in California Addy was still having fun despite the rowing schedule intensifying for upcoming races. Hence the practice Dress as Adam Sandler. Addy is in red.
We woke up excited to explore the island and National Park. You can only reach this spot via boat, the National Park ferry which runs daily from Key West or on a Sea Plane. There is limited camping on the island. We felt so lucky to wake up here on our boat.
