Escaped Georgetown
Though it was hard to leave Georgetown which held new found friends, community activities and some luxuries (restaurants, grocery store, propane, fuel, post office, etc), we lifted the anchor on January 22 and sailed most of the day to Long Island. Queso has become very comfortable with sitting on the sugar scoops good sailing days. Sometimes he spots dolphins before we do!
Weather conditions would have us staying put in Thompson Bay for a few days. We took Queso to a beach to play and I enjoyed the many teeny seashells there.
The afternoon had us visit Tiny’s which is a small restaurant with some rental cottage. In fact this place is for sale! Take a look: https://www.tinysbahamas.com/ Nate and I did chat for a few days about what it would be like to buy a place on a remote island. I find it very easy to romanticize to this lifestyle.
Finished the day with reading and a sundowner. We are often partial to a Dark and Stormy which is ginger beer and rum. I found the perfect glasses for this drink at the thrift store on Martha’s Vineyard.
Sunrise on January 24th:
We found the dock near grocery store which was VERY high and Queso had to climb a ladder. We found the trail to a natural cave but did not venture to far inside because there were lots of bats.
We worked on more boat projects and this difficult puzzle.
The next day boat school and weather had us stay close to the boat. Queso caught up on sleep. Nate met up with Greg from SV Sparkle Motion and they walked to the local farmer’s market. We were excited to see Addy’s official athlete photo. You can read more about Cal Poly Humboldt’s team at https://humboldtathletics.com/sports/womens-rowing
